AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS AND HOLIDAY CLUBS & HOLIDAY  CLUBS

At our after-school clubs and holiday clubs our aim is to be completely child-focused.

AVAILABLE FOR CHILDREN AGED 4 - 11 YEARS

The clubs are run by children for children, with a little help and support from our play workers. We have created an atmosphere where children make the choices. They choose what games to play or activities to do, they choose what to eat each day and are able to have input in all decisions regarding the day to day running of their club.

Our play workers are able to facilitate the wants and needs of children aged 4 to 11 years, helping them to share, take turns, become independent while still having a sense of belonging.

Each member of staff is trained in first aid and CRB checked, and each site has at least one fully qualified play worker, specifically trained to facilitate play activities outside the national curriculum.

Our play workers provide children with a safe place encourage them to socialise, try out new activities and experiences or simply spend time being quiet and relaxed.

DAY CARE WITH A RANGE OF ACTIVITIES

Each day, the children can choose from a wide variety of activities, games and craft and can spend time in the different areas of the club, it's their choice.

Games
A popular choice with the older children, here in the games area there are a variety of board games, playing cards, DVDs and construction toys. Alternatively, they can play games on the XBox 360.

A pool table and air hockey table are also available and, weather permitting, we encourage the children to play outside in the surrounding grassy area or on the school's play equipment.

The games area also has a large flat-screen television where the children can play on the games console or even watch a film. In this area, children can also do face painting.

Chilling out
There is a quiet area available where children can relax on a comfy sofa and 'chill out' with lots of blankets and cushions. The chill out area is used for quiet games and reading books.

FUN AFTER-SCHOOL CARE

Craft
Our craft activities are focused on special events and festivals throughout the year. By following a calendar of events, the children choose what craft to make.

Examples of previous work within our out-of-school clubs include totem poles for Canada's Thanksgiving, lamps for Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, and for Christmas the children made snow globes.

Snacks
Once the children have arrived at the club, a snack is provided for them. The snacks are chosen by the children on a weekly basis and are all homemade from fresh ingredients.

Children can choose anything from a list of snacks including the following: chicken korma and rice; chicken, tomato or vegetable soup; baked beans on toast; meatballs with pasta; and a variety of fresh fruit. We cater for all dietary requirements and an alternative snack option is always available.

Holiday Club
During school holidays, we provide a holiday club with a variety of fun activities for children. These include all the usual games and craft and at least one fully supervised trip to a local attraction per week.

Most recently these trips have included Llechwedd slate mines, Caernarfon and Beaumaris Castle and the Deva Roman Experience in Chester. A schedule of activities is arranged in advance and advertised on the after-school club notice board in the reception area.

Parents simply book their children in for any required sessions. We offer morning, afternoon and full day sessions, and are open from 8.00am to 6.00pm.
